Gretzky: “Housing is a Human Right”

WINDSOR – MPP Lisa Gretzky (Windsor West) released the following statement regarding the urgent needs of women’s shelters and affordable housing in Windsor and across the province:

"Housing is a human right. When women and children are fleeing intimate partner violence or gender-based violence and have nowhere safe to seek shelter and support - they are in even more danger” said Lisa Gretzky. “The solution is simple; the government must build affordable and supportive housing along with adequately funding shelters. Ford has failed women and children in Ontario. It is deeply concerning that the Windsor Police received 6400 calls in 2022-2023 for intimate partner violence alone. The Ford government must do better, lives are at risk. They need to declare intimate partner and gender-based violence an epidemic and take accountability for the reality faced by so many women and children in Ontario."
