Premier Ford claims Ontario leads Canada for vaccines: Ford’s wrong

QUEEN’S PARK – Premier Doug Ford has repeated, yet again, the false notion that Ontario is leading Canada’s vaccine rollout. The data shows otherwise.

CTV News and others tracking vaccine rollout show Ontario remains the province in seventh place, and tenth place including Canada’s territories, in rolling out the vaccine. Ontario has vaccinated 3.3 per cent of Ontarians, behind Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island.

The National Post also fact checked Ford’s claims and confirmed Ontario is a laggard in Canada.

“We can’t fix it if Ford refuses to acknowledge that we can and must do better. Ford’s choice to pretend that Ontario is doing great is literally putting political spin ahead of public health,” said NDP Health critic France Gélinas.
